How was the impervious surface information calculated?
The City of Augusta has had an impervious surface layer in its Geographic Information System (GIS) since the early 2000's, as managers realized the need to track this information for Stormwater management. The information was gleaned from aerial flyovers performed periodically, and updated as funds were available. The current impervious layer was updated from aerial photography taken in the winter of 2014, and amended by the addition of development plans submitted to the city since that time.
