How were the TIA projects selected?
Georgia DOT (GDOT) worked with Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) and local jurisdictions (like Augusta) in order to create a list. Later, an executive committee met to narrow the list. Finally, the list was approved by a "roundtable" composed of officials from the region. This list was the subject of the vote by the citizens.

Show All Answers
1.
Is TIA the same as TSPLOST?
Yes and No. The Transportation Investment Act of 2010 was the legislation that permitted regions throughout the state to impose a 1% sales tax to collect funds for transportation projects. The initiative became commonly known as TSPLOST during the time period leading up to the vote by the citizens in 2012. The funds are officially described as TIA funds and not TSPLOST funds, even though they are closely associated with the public perception of SPLOST (with a "T" added for "Transportation").

3.
What is the total cost of Augusta projects?
$159,870,243
4.
When will the TIA projects be complete?
The projects will be completed over a span of years concluding in 2025. You can see the list of projects on the TIA page on the city website in order to look at information related to individual projects.
5.
Who is managing the projects?
The projects in Augusta-Richmond County are run by two separate organizations: Georgia DOT is managing some and the Augusta Engineering Department is managing others. You can look on our performance dashboard to see a concise list of projects, their value, and who is managing them.
