Why is an Azalea on the banner?
Augusta is known as "The Garden City", and the Azalea is probably the most famous of all the flowers that decorate Augusta in the springtime of every year. Private gardens, public parks, and the medians of streets (not to mention the hillsides of the Augusta National), are bedecked with millions of red, white, and pink petals of this flower that has come to symbolize springtime in Augusta.
