Who are the statues on the banner?
The gentleman in the colonial-era coat is James Edward Oglethorpe, an Englishman who was the founder of Georgia, including Savannah and Augusta. This statue is located in the center of the Augusta Common, located in downtown Augusta between Broad Street and Reynolds Street. The other gentleman is the Godfather of Soul, the Hardest Working Man in Show Business, Augusta's own James Brown, the celebrated and much-honored musician. His statue is adjacent to the Augusta Common in the Broad Street median.

2.
Why is an Azalea on the banner?
Augusta is known as "The Garden City", and the Azalea is probably the most famous of all the flowers that decorate Augusta in the springtime of every year. Private gardens, public parks, and the medians of streets (not to mention the hillsides of the Augusta National), are bedecked with millions of red, white, and pink petals of this flower that has come to symbolize springtime in Augusta.
3.
Why did Augusta update the web page?
A house or a business will redecorate in order to take advantage of the latest styles and color palettes, and to appeal to more customers. Technology is no different, and in the time that the previous site had been launched in 2009 the world has changed. Social media is more prevalent than ever, new programming techniques and tools are available, and frankly, the site needed to be spruced up. These factors contributed to the decision to launch a new, more vibrant web site that is in keeping with Augusta's desire to move forward and sample what the modern world has to offer, while still honoring the past.
4.
What is a Mega Menu?
When you hover over the large menu items (the blue-colored words) at the top of the page, a menu pops up that covers much of the screen. This is a Mega-Menu. The mega-menu is a leap forward because it allows us to move key information to the front where it can be found, instead of being buried several layers deep in the site.
5.
When did the new site launch?
We launched the new site on December 16, 2013.
6.
Why are there large green buttons in the middle of the site?
Those buttons represent some of the items that are most important to Augusta's citizens. 311 was launched in 2013 as a resource for all citizens. GIS has been one of Augusta's most popular technology offerings for year. The Community Voice is an up-and-coming tool that will enable citizens to sound off about issues that are important to them.
7.
There was a link on the old site that I cannot locate. What do I do?
All you have to do is ask! You can contact us and ask us for a specific link or page and we'll be happy to assist, which we have done for many concerned citizens. You can ask through 311 or use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page.
