1. What is the Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB)?

Traffic Violations Bureau cases are minor driving offenses that occur in Richmond County, on or after January 1, 2014, in which the violator has the option of posting a bond (paying a fine) that will be forfeited in lieu of a court appearance.

2. Are all violations eligible to go to the TVB?

3. Can I pay online?

Yes! To pay online go to PayYourTix 24 hours a day. You will need your citation on hand for reference to fill in required information when making your payment. Click this link to go to PayYourTix

4. What payment methods are available?

Citations may be paid on line, by phone, in person or by mail. For details on how to make your payment, go to Payments

5. Can I make a partial payment?

No. All citations must be paid in full. Partial payments will not be accepted. Even if you have multiple traffic citations, all must be paid at one time.

6. How is the fine amount determined?

Violations are determined to be payable and fines set by the Judges of this court in accordance with applicable state laws, click here to see a list of fines. The fines set forth in the Bond Order reflect a lower fine amount. This lower fine results from cost savings being passed on due to your citation not being prosecuted initially by the Richmond County Solicitor General’s Office. List of Fines

7. Where can I call to ask questions?

General information as to the status of a citation may be obtained by calling the Traffic Violations Bureau at (706)826-1384, Monday–Friday, between 8:30 AM–4:30 PM.

8. How long do I have to make my payment?

You must make your payment online or by calling the toll free number before your scheduled court date. All payments that are mailed should be postmarked prior to your court date. 9. Will TVB offenses add points to my license?

When required by state law, dispositions on Traffic Violations Bureau citations are submitted to the Department of Driver Services (DDS). The DDS may assess points against your license in the same manner as if the citation was treated as a misdemeanor. For additional information contact DDS

10. Am I pleading guilty when I pay online?

When an individual posts a cash bond and it is forfeited it is construed as an admission of guilt.

11. What happens if I don't pay the citation?

Failure to pay a citation can result in the suspension of your driver’s license and the citation transferred to the Solicitor’s Office to be prosecuted as a misdemeanor offense.

12. I am a juvenile (16 years of age or younger). What do I do?

Defendants 16 years of age or younger on the date of receiving a citation, should contact Juvenile Court at (706)821-1185 for information regarding their case.

13. What if I feel that I didn't commit the offense with which I'm charged?

You may demand a trial. If you do, your case will be forwarded to the Solicitor General's Office to be handled as a misdemeanor prosecution. You must appear on the court date set out in the citation you were given to enter a not guilty jury or bench trial demand. You will receive a notice thereafter from the Solicitor General's Office notifying you of a formal arraignment date and time.
