Augusta Housing and Community Development Announces the
2019 Seeds For Life Grant Program
Augusta Housing and Community Development is happy to announce the return of its Seeds For Life Small Business Development grant. This is a $10,000 dollar competitive grant where small businesses submit a business outline application in the first round. Then through an established scoring system, chosen candidates will compete in the second round and get the opportunity to “pitch” their company before a ten member panel of local business and economic development professionals in the hopes of being awarded one of the five (5) $10,000 dollar grants available this year.
The opening date to submit an application is June 10, 2019 with the closing date for all applications being July 19, 2019 at 11:59 pm. Small business owners interested in applying should access the online application at https://portal.neighborlysoftware.com/Augusta/Participant.
In its initial year, one hundred and seventy-five (175) businesses applied. Overall, ten (10) businesses made the finals where six of the business were awarded $10,000 dollars. These funds can be used for any type of business related activities, except for a loan or debt payment. Business activities for the awarded companies included: renovation of their current locations, new or upgraded marketing, increased social media presence and growth in employment.
This program is open to all small businesses throughout Augusta-Richmond County that have been in existence for at least twelve (12) months, have ten (10) or less employees and their gross sales are up to $300,000 dollars.
