Compensation & Benefits Division


  • Management of the compensation and position classification system to assure legal compliance with FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and Equal Pay Act, including the development of new job descriptions as well as reclassification and/or reallocation of existing job descriptions
  • Reviewing and approving all promotions through established career paths as well as conducting and/or participating in market surveys and making recommendations to City officials on survey findings
  • Reviewing, analyzing and presentation of additions and/or revisions of all classified positions to the Augusta Commission
  • Maintain Organizational Charts and Position Control System


  • Monitoring and maintaining contractual and budgetary requirements to meet guidelines set by the vendors and the city of Augusta
  • Maintaining benefit files for employees in compliance with federal and state laws relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) of 1996
  • Overseeing and interpreting state statutes regarding the Retirement System and maintaining retirement files / records
  • Maintaining a database to assist in the administration of its benefits programs, e.g. retirement, health, dental, vision, flex, life, etc.
  • Providing customer service to active employees and retirees while serving as the point of contact for benefit related issues with vendors (e.g. AFLAC, Nationwide, etc.)
