Making a First Aid Kit
Assemble a first aid kit* for your home and one for each car. A first aid kit should include:
- First aid manual
- Sterile adhesive bandages in assorted sizes
- Two-inch and four-inch sterile gauze pads (four to six of each)
- Hypoallergenic adhesive tape
- Triangular bandages (three)
- Needle
- Moistened towelettes
- Antibacterial ointment
- Thermometer
- Tongue blades (two)
- Tube of petroleum jelly or other lubricant
- Assorted sizes of safety pins
- Cleaning agent or soap
- Latex gloves (two pairs)
- Cotton balls
- Sunscreen
- Two-inch and three-inch sterile roller bandages (three rolls each)
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Non-prescription Drugs
- Aspirin or nonaspirin pain reliever
- Antidiarrhea medication
- Antacid (for stomach upset)
- Syrup of Ipecac (used to induce vomiting if advised by the Poison Control Center)
- Laxative
- Vitamins
- Activated charcoal (used if advised by the Poison Control Center)
