Defensive Driver Education

Goal

The goal of Risk Management’s Driver Education Program is to provide CITY EMPLOYED drivers with knowledge and safe driving techniques to prevent collisions and violations.

Course Information

The course focuses on collision prevention through hazard recognition and the application of collision avoidance techniques. In addition, the course addresses common driving violations that result in collisions and how to change driving habits to eliminate driving violations.

Trainers

Risk Management Trainers are licensed through the National Safety Council to provide the training. This program, as authorized through the National Safety Council, provides a certificate of completion to individuals who successfully complete the course that is honored by most insurance companies with a discount on their auto insurance.

In-House Registration

This training is available to all city employees, however, priority is given to those who are authorized to drive city vehicles. We encourage supervisors to be aware of and approve all employee's registrations in order to limit work schedule confusion and/or over-lapping responsibilities, as the course duration is a full work day.

Training is held in the Municipal Building, Room 492, from 9 am-5 pm. Class size is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Occasionally, employees may be asked to reschedule depending on availability.
