Augusta Riverwalk
The Augusta Riverwalk spans between 6th & 10th Streets in Downtown Augusta along the Savannah River.
The Riverwalk consists of two (2) bricked levels the upper level accessible via stairways/ramps located at the ends of 10th Street, 8th Street Plaza & 6th Streets and the lower level are accessed the RiverWalk Marina (5th Street), the 8th Street Plaza, the Jessye Norman Amphitheatre, and the 10th Plaza (in front of the Marriott).
The RiverWalk includes several smaller venues where anything is possible. From weddings, to concerts – picnics to bridal photo sessions – Augusta’s RiverWalk is the perfect place to make a memory.
The 8th Street Plaza and Bulkhead is located at 8th Street and Reynolds. This brick lined pedestrian only road leads you to a magnificent scene overlooking the River at the 8th Street Bulkhead. Home to events such as the Saturday Market on the River and one of the top Summer Sunday evening events – the Candlelight Jazz Series held every Sunday between the months of May and August.
The 9th Street and 10th Street Plazas continue the brick road tradition in downtown Augusta hosting the two largest water features in downtown. Each plaza are functional roadways that circle in front and behind the Augusta Riverfront Marriott. The 9th Street Plaza leads you directly to premier outdoor venue in Augusta, Georgia – the Jessye Norman Amphitheater. 10th Street Plaza leads you through the levee as it opens into the Heroes Overlook. A memorial park along the Augusta RiverWalk dedicated for its namesake,
The Japanese Gardens is a quaint nook on the lower level of the RiverWalk. A tranquil and serene water fall makes you feel as if you were in a whole new place! Ideal setting for intimate weddings and vow renewal ceremonies.
The Jessye Norman Amphitheater is located at the end of the 9th Street Plaza. The grand bricked stairways lead you to the covered Mezzanine overlooking the Amphitheater. This 1,800 seat venue overlooks a covered stage area that bends out into the Savannah River. A definite suggested venue for a concert or even church service.
Heroes' Overlook at Riverwalk and 10th Street is a memorial honoring those men and women from our community who have won the Congressional Medal of Honor the Distinguished Service Cross or Navy Cross. Surrounding this memorial is a Memory Walkway with more than 900 bricks inscribed with the names of loved ones, organizations and events to be honored and remembered.
