Deputy Administrator Charles Jackson is a public sector veteran with over 25 years of public service experience. A native of Whiteville, North Carolina, Charles holds a Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fayetteville State University.
Prior to joining Augusta, Charles held senior public sector roles at the state, county, and municipal levels. Most recently he served as County Manager of Northhampton County, North Carolina overseeing all county agencies and managing its budget. His leadership produced several community-wide projects related to public safety, quality of life and neighborhood improvement. Chief among these was eliminating the Northhampton County’s three-year deficit of financial statement audits, binging the county into compliance.
Mr. Jackson is recognized for his community service and is an active member of the International City/County Government Association (ICMA), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the American Public Works Association (APWA), the FBI Citizens Academy, Richmond Police Citizens Academy and the Richmond Public Utilities Citizens Academy. His areas of specialization include fiscal policy, operations management and program evaluation highlighted by a Lean Six Sigma certification which he acquired in 2016.
