Acceptable Curbside Recycling Items
The curbside recycling program can only recycle the material listed below and no other material should go into the recycling cart:
- Cans & Foil
- Aluminum cans and foil
- Tin, steel, metal cans
- Aerosol cans (empty)
- Paper
- Newspapers and advertisements
- Magazines and catalogs
- Phone books
- Junk mail
- Office, writing, and note paper
- Flattened corrugated cardboard boxes
- Pasteboard (cereal and shoe boxes, and empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls)
- Frozen food packaging (clean)
- Plastic
- Bottles and containers
- Milk containers
- Detergent containers
Unacceptable Curbside Recyclable Items
Below is a list of materials that are particularly troublesome and should not be placed in the recycling cart:
- No food waste
- No delivery pizza boxes
- No glass and no liquids
- No Styrofoam
- No packing peanuts or shredded paper
- No hazardous materials
- No batteries
- No automotive fluids (oil, brake, antifreeze, etc.)
- No clothes/textiles/carpet
- No plants or yard waste such as bagged or loose grass, leaves, or small branches
- No plastic bags or grocery bags
- No electronics
- No fluorescent lamps
- No hoses
- No toys, laundry baskets, or hangers (plastic or wire)
- No gift wrap, ribbons, or bows
- No Tires - Augusta Environmental Services no longer picks up tires with the curbside collection but can be recycled for free at Tire Recycling events.
