Augusta, Georgia is an Age-Friendly Community!

It is important to provide different services to our community members, caregivers and providers during this pandemic. The CSRA Agency on Aging has collaborated with AARP and Age Friendly Augusta Richmond County to implement AARP’s Community Connections Mutual Aid Support Group model in our area. This support group will serve the following counties in Georgia: Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie, Warren, Glascock, Hancock, Wilkes, Taliaferro, Jefferson, Jenkins, Screven, Lincoln, Burke, and Washington.

Our goal is to provide presentations on requested topics, share resources/information and chat to reduce loneliness/social isolation!

We will meet each Tuesday (starting April 21st) from 9:30-10:30am.

*****Important***** please send notification that you plan to join the meeting and request the meeting link by emailing or calling Betsy Teasley (Email: [email protected] Office: 706-650-5637).

Augusta, Georgia is now recognized as an AARP Age-Friendly Community.

An Age-Friendly Community is designed to establish an inclusive and accessible environment that encourages active and healthy aging. It also proactively focuses on those elements of communities that enhance independent living with a goal of having older citizens take a more active role in their communities.

The Age-Friendly Communities program provides an excellent opportunity to broaden support from other agencies and organizations for much of the work that is currently underway in the Augusta area. -AARP.org
