Lot Ordinance

No owner of any vacant lot or parcel of land within Augusta-Richmond County shall permit or allow any material or growth to accumulate so as to constitute an unclean, unhealthy, unsanitary, unsightly, filthy, dangerous, objectionable, or offensive condition, such as:
  • Debris to be dumped or old lumber and building material to be piled
  • Grass, weeds, vines underbrush, or other growth to grow or accumulate
  • Grass, weeds, vines underbrush, or other growth to grow or accumulate on the area between the lot or parcel of land and the street curb

Notice

This is a 10-day notice, which allows the inspector to use the court system or choose to have City crews clean the property and attach a lien to the property.



Unsafe Building Abatement

This code is used for both residential and commercial properties. This code regulates buildings that are in a state of disrepair, open and vacant, and which are dangerous to health, safety, and general welfare of the public. This code also exists to protect life and property from fire and other hazards.
