The Richmond County Board of Assessors’ (RCBOA) is open M-F (8:30-5:00) with a “limited in-house staff.”


The RCBOA top priority remains the safety and wellbeing of its staff, property owners, and the entire community. The office is limited to visitors with only two (2) persons in the customer service area at any given time; so that the staff, property owners, and constituents can follow the CDC’s mandate to avoid interaction with others. Most of the RCBOA staff members are working remotely.


RCBOA is closely monitoring the rapidly developing situation regarding COVID-19. Information about any additional changes to the office functions and plans to return to normal operations will be made available on the RCBOA website.

The Richmond County Board of Assessors regular meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 4 p.m. in Room 120.  Please contact the Board of Assessors Office for an agenda. Agendas are available to the public on Fridays prior to the Monday meeting.

The Augusta-Richmond County Board of Assessors will hold its regular session on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 4 p.m. in Suite 291 at the Municipal Building, 535 Telfair Street.  Due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, seating is limited.

The meeting is in compliance with COVID-19 protocols issued by the State of Georgia and the Richmond County Board of Commissioners.

Mission Statement

The Board of Assessors provides and defends uniform fair market values on all taxable properties in Richmond County to establish an equitable digest for the State and to provide to the Augusta Commission, the Board of Education, and the Tax Commissioner, information to levy and collect property taxes.

Board of Assessors

The Richmond County Board of Assessors is an eight-member Board. Three members each appointed by the Augusta-Richmond County Commission from Super District 9 and Super District 10, and two members appointed by the Richmond County Legislative Delegation. All members are appointed to a four-year term.

Notice to Property Owners and Occupants

Pursuant to state statute O.C.G.A. 48-5-264.1 notice is provided that staff of the appraisal office conducts field checks to update property characteristics. All staff members are issued county identification badges with their photograph which should be visible at all times. Appraisal staff travels in county owned vehicles displaying county decals.

Notice in person is provided to the owner or occupant immediately upon entering the property. If no response is received, a door hanger will be left making the resident aware of the visit and information needed. Any visit requiring an interior inspection of residential improvements will be by appointment only.
