Mission Statement

The Board of Assessors provides and defends uniform fair market values on all taxable properties in Richmond County to establish an equitable digest for the State and to provide to the Augusta Commission, the Board of Education, and the Tax Commissioner, information to levy and collect property taxes.


Board of Assessors

The Richmond County Board of Assessors is an eight-member Board. Three members each appointed by the Augusta-Richmond County Commission from Super District 9 and Super District 10, and two members appointed by the Richmond County Legislative Delegation. All members are appointed to a four-year term.

The Richmond County Board of Assessors regular meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Augusta Richmond County Municipal Building, Room 120 or Room 291. Agendas are available to the public the Friday prior to the Monday meeting, online HERE or upon request.

Notice to Property Owners and Occupants

Pursuant to state statute O.C.G.A. 48-5-264.1 notice is provided that staff of the appraisal office conducts field checks to update property characteristics. All staff members are issued county identification badges with their photograph which should be visible at all times. Appraisal staff travels in county owned vehicles displaying county decals.


Notice in person is provided to the owner or occupant immediately upon entering the property. If no response is received, a door hanger will be left making the resident aware of the visit and information needed. Any visit requiring an interior inspection of residential improvements will be by appointment only.
