How does one get a fishing permit to the Mayor's Fishing Hole?
Fishing permits can be obtained at the Mayor's Office, located 530 Greene Street, Suite 806. Fishing permits are valid for a two week period of day time fishing only. No boats or firearms are allowed.
How does the Mayor's Business Incentive Grant (BIG) work?
The Mayor's BIG Program allows a new business owner, who is starting a business in the Laney-Walker Development Area, to apply for reimbursement of up to $2,500 of initial start-up cost. Applications can be submitted at the Housing and Economic Development office. For more information call 706.821.1797.
What is the procedure for obtaining a parade or street closing permit?
Submit a letter to the Mayor's office with the events information, such as: location, time, estimated number of attendance, parade route, number of participants, and date. Once the letter is received the mayor will review the letter of application and recommend approval or disapproval to the Sheriff's Office. Upon approval from the mayor's office the Sheriff's office will contact the applicant to finalize the details.
