Utility Work to Close Part of Eighth Street

Part of downtown Augusta’s Eighth Street will close Monday for more than two weeks.

• Date: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Daily) Starting March 8, 2010 - March 26, 2010
• Reason: Crews will be replacing an underground gas line until March 26, according to a Richmond County Engineering Department press release.
• Detour: Northbound – southbound traffic will be maintained using flaggers, but drivers may avoid the area by using Seventh Street or Ninth Street The closure will happen each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the release said. Flaggers will be on site to direct north and southbound traffic.
