Uniform Division
Overview
The Uniform Division of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office is comprised of two precincts - the North and the South. Each of the two precincts is commanded by the precinct Captain. The precincts have four patrol shifts each, plus the various Special Operations Units housed within that precinct. The uniformed patrol shifts operate on two, 12-hour shifts. These shifts are commanded by one Lieutenant, and he/she is assisted by two Sergeants.

There are a total of 237 certified law enforcement officers working either a permanent day or night shift. Each deputy on the shift is assigned a specific beat to patrol. The beat assignments are not rotated. This allows the deputy to become familiar with his/her beat, and the people who occupy it. Using this format, we feel that we offer the best means of providing the entire county with the security and protection it deserves.

Staff
  • North Precinct Captain - Gerald Metzler
  • South Precinct Captain - Steve Strickland
