About the Wetlands

A series of nature trails meander through the lower part of the park, and a variety of birds tend to congregate in the wetlands area of that region.

PKP's New Cross Country Trails

Pendleton King Parks' new Cross Country Trails were completed and donated as an Eagle Scout Project by Norwood R. "Wood" Dennis, Jr. The trails traverse half of the 64 acres through wetlands, camellia, hydrangea and azalea gardens. The 2-Kilometer figure-eight design provides for two (2) separate 1-Kilometer trails, labeled Red for the "Woodlands Trail" that circles Lake Elizabeth and Blue for the "Camellia Trail" which traverses the upper park. The rationale for the design was to provide an opportunity to tailor the length and terrain to meet training, competition or exercise needs in a safe and natural setting.

For scheduling races, please contact via email Darrell Bennett or by phone at (706) 513-2572.
