Anticipating thousands of users each year, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the City of Augusta recently completed improvements to the Robert J. “Bob” Baurle Boat Ramp, giving boaters and anglers improved access to the Savannah River south of the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam.

This facility includes the existing double wide 100’ ramp, gangway and dock, new single wide 100 ‘ ramp with ground out gangway to new courtesy dock, parking designed for 27 vehicles w/trailers, 3 handicapped parking spaces for vehicles w/trailers, spectator parking, 4 regular and 2 handicapped and grassed overflow parking, staging areas for tournament related activities. The area is accessible to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This ramp area is one of more than 17 ramps being constructed/and renovated around the state as part of the Go Fish Georgia Initiative. This initiative seeks to establish Georgia as a national fishing destination through a three-tiered approach: 1) improving the quality of fishing in Georgia waters; 2) improving access to water bodies for fishing in Georgia; and 3) increasing participation through active promotion and marketing of Georgia’s exceptional fishing resources.
