The Augusta Richmond County Planning Commission has administered a $1,969,000 Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Energy since its approval in August 2009. The first element of that process was to develop an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy for Augusta Richmond County. The city hired Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure Group Inc. to assist in preparing the Strategy and develop projects to effectively conserve energy, reduce greenhouse gasses, and meet other goals.
