“Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that "no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." The City of Augusta, Georgia, as a condition for receiving financial assistance from the Federal Transportation Administration along with The City of Augusta’s
EEO Office, in conjunction with
Augusta Public Transit, has prepared a statement of procedures to notify beneficiaries of the City’s Title VI responsibilities. The
Title VI Notification Procedures has been placed on the Transit Department’s web-site for viewing and is also displayed at APT’s headquarters and terminal.
