What can be done If my landlord won’t fix problems in my apartment?
If you have made the landlord aware of the problems and he doesn’t fix them, you can call and issue a complaint and an inspector will meet with you and notify the owner of the problems and give him a time frame to complete them.
3.
If my neighbor has a lot of junk and debris in the yard what can I do?
Issue a complaint and our department will investigate and take appropriate action.

How high can a fence be in a residential zone?
4FT in the front yard and 6FT in the rear and side yards, any yard that faces a street will be limited to 4FT., special requirements for corner lots which must comply with the corner setback visibility requirements. To review these requirements in further detail

5.
If a neighbor does not maintain the exterior of this property what can be done?
The International Property Maintenance Code requires that the exterior of buildings be maintained as well as the yards kept in a clean and sanitary condition. If you find that there are rotten or damaged boards, severely faking paint, broken windows, damaged roof, junk and debris in the yard or overgrown vegetation, you may call (706) 312-5049 and issue a complaint and our office will investigate.

Who do you call if there are inoperable vehicles with no tags?
You need to call the Marshall’s Department at (706) 821-2368 and they will have an officer to respond to your concern. To receive additional information on inoperable vehicles please visit the

7.
What can be done about open, vacant buildings that are in disrepair?
We have provisions in our code that does not allow these types of buildings in your neighborhood, in addition, we also use the state nuisance abatement code which allows us to take the property to the courts and request demolition of said structure.
8.
How many scrap tires can you have on your property in a residential zone?
None
9.
Who handles complaints for people who are working without a business License?
The Business License Office has inspectors that will check on your complaint once it is reported. Please contact the License and Inspection Division at (706) 312-5050.
10.
Can anything be done about a dead tree on private property?
Our Nuisance code does address dead/ dangerous trees. Our office will contact the owner of the property to remove the tree. We do not handle live trees or limbs that may overhang on your property (that will be a civil matter between you and your neighbor).
