1. On the urgent reminders where it states, practitioners of professions, as described in O.C.G.A. 48-13-9 (c) 1-18, have payment options. Does this apply to me?

You have the option of being billed on gross revenue or paying a flat fee of $400 if this applies to you.

This applies to you only if your business is classified as the following:

• Physicians licensed under chapter 34 of Title 43


• Osteopaths licensed under chapter 34 of Title 43

• Podiatrists


• Dentists


• Optometrists

All other business pay based on your gross revenue for the period of October 1st of previous year to September 30th of current year

2. How do I request an inspection online?

In order to submit a inspection request online you will need to access the inspection status application. You may access this application at anytime by using the drop down menu at the top of the page.

To access this, look for eGov Services drop down box, below the search box, at the top of every page. Then select Inspection Status and click go. Once in the application click on the Submit an Inspection request link and input your request from there. You may also access the application by clicking on the Inspection Status link in the License and Inspection menu.


You will need your Business License number to be verified for each inspection request. Fill out each requested line. To enter the type of inspection, click on the down arrow and choose the inspection you are in need of. Enter any comments if any and click submit. You will then receive a message that states: Your E-mail has been sent successfully – Thank You.

3. How do I check the status of an inspection online?

In order to check the status of an inspection request online you will need to access the inspection status application. You may access this application at anytime by using the drop down menu at the top of the page. To access this, look for eGov Services drop down box, below the search box, at the top of every page. Then select Inspection Status and click go. You may also access the application by clicking on the Inspection Status link in the License and Inspection menu.

Enter your permit number where indicated and click submit. All inspections that have been entered and performed will be present. It will show your permit numbers, the type of inspection performed, address of the job, the inspector, the date it was inspected, results – passed or failed and any notes or comments. At the top of all that information you will find the Total Records found. That will be the total amount of inspections that have been performed. Any voided inspections shown should not be counted as a total for inspections.

You can print a copy, if desired for your records. You will not be able to make any changes to this page. It’s for view only.

If another inspection is needed go back to the top of the page and click on the underlined: Submit an Inspection Request and proceed to enter another inspection.

4. How much will my license cost?

The cost of the license is determined by estimated gross Revenue, you should have this information ready when submitting the application.

5. If I am adding on to my business, do I need a separate license?

Not in all cases, if you are not keeping separate books for the additional type of business added, you do not have to get a separate license, however; if the gross for the additional business added is kept separately; then an additional license is required.

6. When do I need to have Health Department approval?

This is needed when you are serving or preparing food for the general public.

Pre-packaged items do not require Health Department approval.

7. How long will it take to get my business license.

There is a two to three day waiting period to receive your license after the application has been submitted.

9. If I want to close my business what is the procedure?

You may close your business through the use of several forms. (1)The renewal form – mailed in September of each year and due by October 31st of each year. (2) The license bill – mailed in December of each year and due by January 31st. Each form has a place that allows you to indicate if you wish to renew your business.

You may also down load the Close Account form from our website and send it in either by regular mail, e-mail, or fax.

To cover both you and our staff member, all forms must be signed by the owner listed on the application in order to close your business.

10. What is the SAVE form and why am I completing it?

The SAVE program is used to verify the legal status of non-U.S. citizens who apply through the county for a federal, state, or local public benefit. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 50-36-1, Augusta, GA is required to obtain this affidavit from any person who receives a public benefit from Augusta, GA. A public benefit is a business license, alcohol license, taxicab license, etc. All counties in Georgia must participate in the SAVE (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements) program.

11. What is the E-verify and why am I completing it?

E-Verify is an Internet based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their newly hired employees. State law requires that every public employer and every private employer that contracts for the physical performance of services with a county must be registered with and use the E-Verify program starting January 1, 2012 for private employers with more than 500 employees. Private employers with more than 100 employees must register by July 1, 2012 and employers with more than 10 employees must register by January 1, 2013. This program is free and it is the best means available for determining employment eligibility and citizenship of new hires.

12. Am I required to complete this form every year?

Yes. A new benefit is provided to the applicant each year that a business license, alcohol license or taxicab license is issued. Consequently, current affidavits are required to be submitted.
