New Service Customer Frequently Asked Questions

How to apply for new service?

You must come into our office to establish a new account. Our hours of operation are from 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Applicants must provide picture ID, Social Security Number or Driver’s License. Paper work indicating ownership or lease agreement/notarized letter from the property owner must be provided. We have two branch locations as follows:

How much does it cost to open a new account?

The Augusta Utilities Department applies a fee of $25.00 to establish a new account and to transfer to another account. This is a non-refundable charge.

Is there a minimum bill?

Yes, the Augusta Utilities Department charges a fee even if there is no consumption. The monthly fee applies to consumption from 0 to 3,000 gallons please refer to the Water Rates.

How is the sewer charge calculated?

Your sewer bill is based on your December, January and February water consumption. If there is no prior history then you will be billed for the actual water consumption but no higher than the charge for 7 thousand gallons.

Is there a late fee?

Yes, if payment is not received by the due date then a 10% penalty is applied to your account.

How soon can I get my water turned on?

The Augusta Utilities Department offers same day service, but 2-3 days notice is preferred.
