Plant Swap
The Pendleton King Park Plant Swap is an exciting, fun event held at the Franke Pavillon on the first Saturday of May from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. People are invited to trade plants, to buy or sell plants. There is no entry fee or charge to sell plants at the event. Individuals of all ages come to share their favorite plants and their gardening wisdom.
Participants may trade plants with other gardeners at the Trading Area. They can also purchase plants at the Selling Area. Gardeners and garden clubs are invited to sell plants and gardening items. All participants are asked to attach cards to their plants identifying them and indicating the light and moisture requirements of the plants.
Individuals wishing to sell plants, seeds, or plant-related items are asked to arrive at 9:00 to set up their displays. Sellers must provide their own tables or other equipment needed to display their items.
Master Gardeners are on hand to help identify plants and answer questions about caring for them.
The Plant Swap and Sale started in 1997 and has gained popularity and participants each succeeding year. It is a cooperative effort of the Pendleton King Park Foundation, the CSRA Master Gardeners and the City of Augusta Public Services Department - Trees and Landscape Division.
For more information about this event, call Kay Mills at (706) 738-4321.
Arbor Day
Arbor Day is frequently observed at Pendleton King Park. Tree seedling give-a-ways, guest speakers, a 10K run, tree demonstrations, and a proclamation read by the Mayor of Augusta are part of the day’s activities. The event frequently features the dedication of a tree to an outstanding individual or group which promotes urban forestry in the Augusta area.

Story Time at Pendleton
In conjunction with the Augusta Richmond County Public Library and community volunteers, Story Time at Pendleton is held for pre-school children in May and June at the Hydrangea Garden Pergola. Check with the library for current schedules.

Educational Events
Gardening seminars are held periodically on hydrangeas and camellias. Experts talk about pruning, propagation and cultivation. Volunteering at the gardens provides a strong educational element and is an excellent way to learn about gardening since many of the volunteers are Master Gardeners or have strong gardening backgrounds.
