The staff is on hand Monday thru Friday from 7:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M.
The gates will be closed at 6 P.M.

Cemeteries Description

The Cemetery section of the Trees & Landscape Division operates three Municipal cemeteries that are staffed:

Magnolia Cemetery
Staff of 6

Cedar Grove Cemetery
Staff of 5

West View Cemetery
Staff of 5

Also three other cemeteries are maintained on a periodic basis and are not staffed:

Rollersville Cemetery
A.K.A. Hicks Street Cemetery, A.K.A. Harrisburg Cemetery

Summerville Colored Cemetery
Located on Fitten Street.

Arsenal Cemetery

Cemetery operations include the coordination of funerals, landscape maintenance, opening and closing of graves, laying of foundations, and genealogical research for the general public. Cemeteries are open seven days a week (Staffed Mon thru Friday 7:00 A.M. thru 4:00P.M.). Weekends from 8:00A.M. until sundown (Currently 8:00 P.M.). Contractual services are used to open most graves and coordination with monument companies enable grave markers to be placed on the cemetery plots.

Cemetery personnel perform grass mowing and trimming. Herbicide and insecticide are applied by cemetery personal, supervised by licensed certified pesticide applicators.

Volunteer

As you may have seen in the news media we in Augusta-Richmond County Cemeteries have taken on the large task of recording all A-RC cemetery records into a cemetery database that will not only give the information we have on the deceased, but will also include such things as pictures, G.I.S. mapping, gravestone recordings and lots more. All this will be made accessible through the internet with the "GRAVESIDE" database that the Augusta-Richmond County Information Technology Department has generously built and programmed for our needs in the city cemeteries.

We are excited about this new endeavor, but we need your help in making this
dream come true in the recent future. Without your help it would be many many years before we had the hundreds of thousands of names and information entered into the "GRAVESIDE" database. If you feel that you would like to volunteer please contact the Magnolia Cemetery office at (706) 821-1746 and schedule the time(s) you are available. Or you may email us at jmurphy@augustaga.gov.

Due to the limited computers we have for entering the data please do not show up to enter data without first scheduling and having received conformation.

$ 50.00 Cremation and stillborn infants
$500.00 For double deck graves on weekends and holidays
$500.00 For double deck grave until 1:00 P.M. day after weekend/holiday
$500.00 weekdays for a 3:00 P.M. Chapel or Church service
$400.00 weekdays before 3:00 P.M.

*Note: Prices on "Double Deck Graves" are for a single burial that has been dug extra deep allowing for another service to be held over the first.
