Landfill Customer Use and Safety Rules
- All persons and vehicles enter the facility at their own risk. Augusta assumes no liability for bodily injury, personal injury, or property damage while on Landfill property.
- Safety first! Anyone behaving in an unprofessional or unsafe manner will be asked to leave.
- If you have or observe an emergency, please notify a Landfill employee immediately.
- Smoking is permitted in designated areas only. The designated smoking areas are near the Administrative Office building.
- The use of cell phones is prohibited at all times when customers are on or beyond the Scales.
- All vehicles are subject to random inspection by Landfill personnel.
- All children, pets, and adults not involved in unloading of refuse shall remain inside the vehicle at all times.
- Augusta assumes no liability for damage to vehicles resulting from towing or otherwise assisting disabled vehicles.
- Scavenging and salvaging is prohibited.
- Landfill users must obey all posted traffic signs and speed limits.
- Restricted materials shall not be disposed in any portion of the Landfill. Waste is only accepted in accordance with Augusta’s Waste Acceptance Criteria.
- Tailgates shall not be unlatched and loads may not be uncovered at the scale area. All vehicle closing, latching, cleaning out and/or covering/uncovering should be done in the landfill or designated areas only.
- Vehicles may only dump in areas designated by the Landfill Manager.
- Landfill customers must stay within five feet of their vehicle.
- For commercial customers, only the driver may be outside of the vehicle while on the active disposal area of the landfill.
- Riding on the outside of the vehicle or standing on the rear step is forbidden while on site.
- Alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are not permitted. Customers with obvious signs of intoxication are not permitted to enter the facility.
- Carrying, brandishing, or discharging weapons of any type is not permitted.
- All solid waste shall be transported in vehicles or containers so that the contents will not fall, leak, or spill.
- All loads shall be covered. Augusta reserves the right to turn away and/or charge any loads that are not properly covered.
- Customer vehicles should keep a 15 foot distance from landfill heavy equipment.
- Unauthorized access is not permitted outside of posted operating hours.
- All commercial vehicles must have an operational backup alarm.
- All vehicles must come to a full stop before pulling onto the scales.
- Landfill equipment operators have the right-of-way on the active disposal area of the working face. All vehicles are to yield to operating machinery and pedestrians.
- Commercial customers shall wear high-visibility vests and/or clothing while outside of their vehicle.
