Landfill Customer Use and Safety Rules

  1. All persons and vehicles enter the facility at their own risk. Augusta assumes no liability for bodily injury, personal injury, or property damage while on Landfill property.
  2. Safety first! Anyone behaving in an unprofessional or unsafe manner will be asked to leave.
  3. If you have or observe an emergency, please notify a Landfill employee immediately.
  4. Smoking is permitted in designated areas only. The designated smoking areas are near the Administrative Office building.
  5. The use of cell phones is prohibited at all times when customers are on or beyond the Scales.
  6. All vehicles are subject to random inspection by Landfill personnel.
  7. All children, pets, and adults not involved in unloading of refuse shall remain inside the vehicle at all times.
  8. Augusta assumes no liability for damage to vehicles resulting from towing or otherwise assisting disabled vehicles.
  9. Scavenging and salvaging is prohibited.
  10. Landfill users must obey all posted traffic signs and speed limits.
  11. Restricted materials shall not be disposed in any portion of the Landfill. Waste is only accepted in accordance with Augusta’s Waste Acceptance Criteria.
  12. Tailgates shall not be unlatched and loads may not be uncovered at the scale area. All vehicle closing, latching, cleaning out and/or covering/uncovering should be done in the landfill or designated areas only.
  13. Vehicles may only dump in areas designated by the Landfill Manager.
  14. Landfill customers must stay within five feet of their vehicle.
  15. For commercial customers, only the driver may be outside of the vehicle while on the active disposal area of the landfill.
  16. Riding on the outside of the vehicle or standing on the rear step is forbidden while on site.
  17. Alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are not permitted. Customers with obvious signs of intoxication are not permitted to enter the facility.
  18. Carrying, brandishing, or discharging weapons of any type is not permitted.
  19. All solid waste shall be transported in vehicles or containers so that the contents will not fall, leak, or spill.
  20. All loads shall be covered. Augusta reserves the right to turn away and/or charge any loads that are not properly covered.
  21. Customer vehicles should keep a 15 foot distance from landfill heavy equipment.
  22. Unauthorized access is not permitted outside of posted operating hours.
  23. All commercial vehicles must have an operational backup alarm.
  24. All vehicles must come to a full stop before pulling onto the scales.
  25. Landfill equipment operators have the right-of-way on the active disposal area of the working face. All vehicles are to yield to operating machinery and pedestrians.
  26. Commercial customers shall wear high-visibility vests and/or clothing while outside of their vehicle.
