Welcome

Harold V. Jones

Welcome to the Office of the Solicitor General for the State Court of Richmond County, Georgia. I hope you find our web page interesting, informative, and helpful.

The Solicitor's Office serves all citizens of Richmond County, Georgia, as the prosecutor for all misdemeanor criminal offenses including DUI cases, traffic violations, theft cases, domestic violence, neighborhood disputes, and other non-traffic misdemeanor offenses occurring in Augusta-Richmond County. Misdemeanor offenses have a maximum punishment of 12 months confinement and generally have a maximum fine of $1,000.00.

As Solicitor General, I strive to balance representation of the State with advocacy for victims and to develop and maintain policies that apply standards of fairness equally to all concerned. Safety for the public and safety for the home are values supported and protected by my office.

News

Be safe if you’re going to drink during the upcoming spring events, don’t drive.
Walk, call a cab or have a designated driver.

Here are some steps you can take in preventing more impaired driving fatalities:

How can you tell if someone is too drunk to drive? Ideally, no one should drive after consuming even a small amount of alcohol. But in some cases, a person is clearly impaired and has no business getting behind the wheel.

What to look out for:

Though it is often difficult and awkward to reason with someone who has been drinking, the alternative -- the loss of a friend or loved one -- is much worse.

This information is provided by the Ad Council. For more information on impaired drivers visit them on the Web at www.adcouncil.org. Also, visit the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
