Identifies loss potential, mitigates loss events (damage control), designs/develops programs to reduce risk exposures, coordinates, and supervises implementation of government-wide safety program emphasizing reduction of claims within the guidelines of OSHA, federal and state laws, and local ordinances. Reports to the Risk Management Manager and works with directors, assistant directors, supervisors, employees, and co-workers to ensure a safe work environment.
Develops job/task analysis of each job description; Develops training programs based on analytical study of claims; Coordinates and administers county-wide safety program; Observes work processes, makes corrective recommendations, and suspends unsafe activities in order to implement corrective action; Oversight for inspections of vehicles, facilities, and mechanical equipment. Also serves as assistant administrator for Substance Abuse Program/Policy.

Assists with the establishment of safety programs in all A-RC departments and monitoring for compliance; conducts technical and general inspections of vehicles, facilities, mechanical equipment and work processes; trains department employees on operator responsibilities for inspecting vehicle/equipment; conducts safety training and/or coordinates special training as required.
Workers Compensation Coordinator

Coordinates all phases of workers compensation claim: assists employee with on-the-job injury, coordinates claim process with service providers, expedites return to work by pursuing modified duty when necessary, coordinates claim with payroll as well as employee's department, etc. Maintains injury database for report purposes. Ensures Panel of Physicians is posted properly in all areas and that employees are aware of their rights under workers compensation. Serves as government representative in court cases.

Investigator/Adjuster for property damage claims including vehicle accidents, sewer backups, general property damages, etc; investigates and determines liability, prepares bid specifications for repairs, coordinates cleanup processes, etc. Negotiates and gives recommendation on claim settlements.

Processes damage claims to include coordinating repair of our vehicle, repair/replacement of other damaged property, cleanup from sewer backups, replacement of items dealing with thefts; follows up on complaints (pot holes, sewer backups, manhole covers, etc), seeks recovery from third parties. Maintains accident database for reporting purposes.

Administrative support for Risk Management Operations; serves as administrative support for the Safety Review Committee as well as the Substance Abuse Program; reserves/tracks loaned equipment/videos in support of training initiatives by outside departments; documents and assists with minor claims and complaints (windshield breakage, damages from pot holes, fallen limbs, etc) .
