What are the directions to Richmond County Correctional Institution?

From Atlanta: I-20 East then Bobby Jones Expressway East exit; Exit Windsor Spring/Peach Orchard Rd. (#6) and turn right on to Peach Orchard Rd.; Travel approximately (2) miles then turn right on Tobacco Rd.- RCCI on left.

From Savannah: I-16 North to Statesboro then Hwy 25 North to Augusta; Turn left on to Tobacco Rd.- RCCI on left.

What are the Visitation procedures?

Visitation is held on Saturdays, Sundays and county holidays from 9:00 am- 1:00 PM. Only immediate family members (parents, brother, their spouses, sisters and their spouses, wives or common law wives, grandparents, children or stepchildren) are allowed to visit. All inmates are given the opportunity to complete a visitation list. Visitors are not permitted to wear shorts or revealing clothing to the visitation area. Visitors who arrive and are not in the proper attire will be denied admittance. Kissing/Hugging are permitted when entering and exiting the visitation area only. All visitors over the age of (16) yr. old are required to present identification before admission. No personal item may be given to an inmate during visitation. You may bring change (money) to the visitation area to use the vending machines.

How can I find out when an inmate will be released?

What are the transfer procedures?

Generally, inmates are eligible for transfers after completing (12) months of assignment and have maintained (6) months clear record- no disciplinary infractions. All transfers must be approved by the Georgia Department of Corrections: (404) 656-4987. Inmates at other institutions must go through their assigned Counselors to obtain a transfer.

Do inmates have access to telephones?

Yes, all inmates have access to telephones unless their privileges are restricted due to disciplinary infractions. Inmates are limited to (12) phone numbers, and they can only call these numbers. All calls are collect.

Can I send packages and money to inmates?

No, inmates are not allowed to receive packages. However, they are permitted to obtain a pre-approved Christmas package. All inmates have access to the Inmate's Commissary. Each inmate has an account and may receive money only through postal money orders, money orders signed by a bank official or a cashiers check sent through the mail. Money orders can be for any amount. CASH MONEY & PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ALLOWED & WILL BE RETURNED TO THE SENDER!
