2007 Highlights
The Information Technology Department (IT) is continuously working to provide our users with quality technological services and support.
Following are a few of the IT highlights for the previous year of 2007:
- IT Customer Satisfaction annual survey demonstrated a 98% approval rating.
- Upgraded After-hours support protocol to provide more information to better support the users.
- Completed Municipal Building VoIP telephony upgrade/conversions.
- Citywide implementation of upgrade from Windows 2003 to Windows XP for continued system standardization.
- Implemented several wireless projects to include: Grand Jury Courtroom, 2nd Floor Municipal Building Courtroom, 8th Floor of the Municipal Building, 3rd Floor of the Municipal Building, Fleet on Walton Way and between the main recreational facilities and ballpark towers.
- Managed the Microsoft Exchange Server system that received 2,742,245 emails and sent 1,011,707 emails.
- Imported 251,800 images for 1993-1995 from microfilm into the CDIMS application for the Clerk of Superior Clerk.
- Upgraded Faster CS application for the Fleet Management system.
- Planned, managed and implemented SpecRight, new Housing Rehabilitation software for Housing & Community Development.
- Designed and developed web-based version of ATOMS application.
- Installed Cisco Automated Attendant – Standardized Voice.
- Implemented plan to begin network diagramming of all city locations.
- Upgraded city’s internet service link to AT&T 10MB Metro Ethernet.
- Upgraded Blackberry server software from Small Business Edition 3.x to Enterprise 4.x version for Microsoft Exchange.
- Telecommunications services audit conducted by ISI Telemanagement Solutions, Inc.
- Implemented Crisis Link failover for the telephony system.
- Upgraded Oracle Database server to 10g to support various county databases.
- Completed inventory of all of the communication equipment throughout the city.
- Completed manual technology inventory for all departments to include all computers, printers, monitors, laptops, and peripherals.
- Negotiated a 17% reduction in the annual maintenance costs with Motorola, resulting in a $35,174 a year cost savings.
- Added additional standard GIS maps for public download in PDF and JPEG format to Augusta GIS web site.
- Mapped over 155 locations of the Augusta facilities for GIS application.
- Created a dataset for Shopping & Major Retail – 91 locations including Anchor store 1 and 2, a number of stores and vacant stores.
- Added additional 260 road segments to the GIS road database.
- Created GIS Feature Dataset for License & Inspection.
- Performed year-end jury box balancing for the Jury Clerk.
- Provided project coordination and technical assistance for the renovation and move of the Marshal’s Offices.
- Upgraded the county wide GBA application to version 6.73
- Developed Poll Worker Management software to track election worker assignments and pay.
- Installed infrastructure wiring in new administrative office for Public Services.
- Augusta Golf Course is now connected to the network.
- Installed Key Service Unit and telephone system for Johnson Community Center.
- Designed, developed, and implemented web-based accounting application for Civil & Magistrate Court.
- Planned, managed, and implemented BalanceAAP, new EEO software.
- Worked with the Sheriff’s Office to implement the COPLINK program in coordination with other local law enforcement agencies.
- Designed, developed, and implemented automated export of incarcerated inmates to Bealls to log inmate telephone calls.
- Created data layers and buffers to generate a Sex Offender Map for the Sheriff’s Office to become compliant with the new sex offender laws.
- Facilitated creation and posting of Records Division Web Page on the Augusta website.
- Planned, managed, and implemented Phase I of Insight, new Solid Waste application.
- Provided project management and technical support related to the movement of State Court Offices from the Law Enforcement Center to Greene Street.
- Trained a total of 894 city users in Microsoft Office products and vendor training.
- Responded to 807 work orders for Telecom related issues.
- Blocked 5,917,128 spam emails and 8,945 virus emails from entering the system.
