DEMOLITION REBUILD PROGRAM
This program element has not been defined or written to date. However, the need for this type of program is significant in the City of Augusta's inner city areas where the housing stock is in a state of advanced deterioration. This program will propose to replace the severely damaged dwelling that is cost prohibitive and impractical to restore. The property owner must be in agreement and otherwise qualify for the program. The occupants will need to be relocated during the construction process.
The actual size and cost of each housing unit will vary according to the size of the lot and the number of resident family members. Target size estimates 1000 to 1400 square feet and proposed project costs from $45,000 to $60,000.
Owners will be qualified according to their ability to repay based on income and underwriting guidelines. Some allocations will be outright grants with most anticipated to be low interest loans and various combinations.
