Plan Preparation Guidelines
INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to provide basic guidelines for the preparation of construction plans for the Augusta, Georgia Engineering Department.
These criteria establish, define, and clarify procedures and standards for plans to be used by the Department. These criteria are not intended to establish design processes; rather, they are
guidelines to assure that all drawings have a uniform appearance and include all pertinent information, avoid unnecessary information, and reflect high quality workmanship.
Engineers and technicians are responsible for ensuring that these criteria are implemented accurately and that the drawings show the information completely, clearly, and legibly.
These guidelines are applicable to all projects, however a graded approach may be utilized when recommended by the Consultant Engineer and approved by the PreConstruction Engineer. The use of a graded approach will be based on the complexity on the project and appropriateness of the recommendation.
This document utilizes the GDOT Plan Presentation Guidelines modified to accommodate the type and complexity of projects typically designed and constructed by the Augusta, Georgia Public Works and Engineering Department. All reference to Department shall mean the Augusta, Georgia Public Works and Engineering Department.
Each chapter addresses the requirement for the specific type of information required on the plans. Separate plan sheets are not required as stated per chapter if the information can be presented in a clear, concise and legible manner.
