About the Aquatics Center

The Augusta Aquatics Center is the premier aquatic facility in the CSRA. The Augusta Aquatics Center has been home to a wide range of aquatics programs. This facility is here to service an array of different purposes from getting in shape to swimming on a competitive level to spending quality time with the whole family. You can put in your miles swimming laps, practicing rolling over in a kayak, join an adult or senior Aqua Fitness program, compete on a swimming or diving team, take a lifeguard training course, practice your flips and spins in the diving area, don a scuba tank and explore the under water life, or better yet, you can celebration your birthday with all of your friends on almost any Saturday of the year.

Operated by the Augusta Recreation and Parks Department, the Augusta Aquatics Center was opened on April 30, 1999. The 40,000 square foot facility includes a 50 meter x 25 yard Olympic size competition pool. The competition pool may be set up as an 8 land long course or 16 lane short course venue. The facility also has a 25 yard x 48 foot cool down/instructional pool with 1 meter and 3 meter springboards. The Aquatics Center is fully equipped to accommodate those with special needs as well.

The dehumidification system offers a controlled comfortable climate for both swimmers and spectators. Over 1,250 spectators can be accommodated by balcony and deck level seating. There is a food court with poolside viewing and seating complete with vending and a part-time concession operation.

Other amenities offered by the Augusta Aquatics Center include a spacious lobby area, a reception area, and registration desk. Our large conference room makes the Aquatics Center perfect for seminars, and other meetings. Additionally, on the second floor there are retractable bleachers for a multi purpose area when not being used for spectator viewing.

The Augusta Aquatics Center also offers its guests a weight training room. The room consists of dumbbells, medicine balls, a universal weight machine, treadmill, recumbent bike and much more! Our newly renovated locker rooms are all handicap accessible and provide private changing and shower areas.

The Augusta Aquatics Center runs and operates a Colorado Timing System 5 Myriad Scoreboard/Message center. This system is capable of displaying 256 shades of color graphics, sound and the highest quality scoring for competitive swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming.

Since opening, the Augusta Aquatics Center has successfully hosted the Georgia Games’ Youth Masters, Diving and Synchronized Swimming meets as wells as the Junior Jaguar Invitational, Senior State Championships, CSRA Divisional and All-Star Championship meets, YMCA Masters Nationals, Special Olympics, GRPA State Swim Meet, several High School Championships, Aiken-Augusta Swim League (ASL) and The Greater Augusta Swimming (GAS) Invitational. So, whatever your purpose or need, the Augusta Aquatics Center with its friendly and helpful staff is here for your use and enjoyment.
