Objectives
The 9-1-1 Commitment
The 9-1-1 Communication Center and every employee is committed to delivering the best service possible and we value your input. To facilitate this input, we have provided several methods of contacting us within the Navigation Area. If you have a suggestion, want to know how we do things, want to schedule a tour of your Center, or if you have a complaint, we welcome you to send us the information. Each E-Mail will be answered, and if there is a complaint, it will be taken seriously. Of course, if you have a compliment we very much want to hear that too.
Information
The Augusta 9-1-1 Center is fully staffed on each shift with properly trained and equipped Emergency Medical Dispatchers to handle any 9-1-1 Emergency requiring a medical response. The staff of the Augusta 9-1-1 Center will be using professional protocols and questioning to determine the medical need and the proper response for the call. The public is advised that the questioning does not slow the dispatch of the Emergency Medical Service. The dispatching of ambulances will often occur simultaneously with the questioning and in cases of extreme emergency, the Dispatcher may give preliminary instructions to help stabilize the patient while the Ambulance is on the way. Serious emergencies may also mean that an Augusta Fire Department First Responder may be dispatched along with an Ambulance in an effort to ensure the well being of the patient.
Your Augusta 9-1-1 Center is dedicated to providing the highest quality 9-1-1 Service and committed to ensuring the prompt dispatch of the Public Safety Responder in your time of need. If at anytime you believe there has been a delay in the response, you should immediately call the Shift Supervisor on duty and have the Shift Supervisor help you. If you ever think your service was not what it should have been please let the Director or Assistant Director of the Augusta 9-1-1 Center know. You can contact the Director, Phillip K. Wasson, at (706) 821-1242; or you can contact the Assistant Director, Catherine White, at (706) 821-1212.
NEW VIPER 9-1-1 SYSTEM
On May 6, 2008, the Augusta-Richmond County 9-1-1 center will be upgrading to a new “viper” 9-1-1. This “viper” 9-1-1 will provide the infrastructure for the next generation 9-1-1 which will include the capability for receiving cell phone text messages, instant messenger text, as well as digital video and photos from cell phones and other technology.
This changeover has been planned so as to cause no interruption in service. If during this period you experience any problem callng 9-1-1, call 706-821-1080 or 706-821-2900. Please make the communication officer who takes your call aware so we can promptly correct the issue.
Again no problems should occur and this upgrade is to help us better serve you in the future.
