Augusta Recreation and Parks operates public park & recreation facilities throughout Richmond County. Recently recognized as the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District I Agency of the Year, we are proud of our system’s inter-related elements: our park land, our recreation and community facilities, recreation programs and our administrative/planning/development services.

We maintain over 70 park sites and 1,500 acres of parkland that features a wide variety of quality facilities with family oriented leisure activities for all ages and population groups.

On Saturday, March 25th, the Augusta Recreation & Parks Department hosted its annual Richmond County Local Track Meet. Over 750 participants from across Richmond County and surrounding area participated in 78 events. Athletes ranging from 7 years of age to 14 years of age competed for the opportunity to advance to GRPA 1st District Meet, Saturday, April 22nd in Swainsboro, GA. 52 boys and 49 girls, some in multiple events, advanced to represent Richmond County at the District Meet in three weeks.  Click below to download a complete listing of results. 2017 Local Track Meet Results

On Thursday, March 30th at 6:00 PM all parents of district track participants are asked to attend a parents meeting at Bernie Ward Community Center for more information on the upcoming meet. (All participants are required to provide a copy of a birth certificate for age verification) 

Practices for athletes will be held every Monday, Tuesday & Thursday evening at 5:00 PM at the Academy of Richmond High School Stadium.
