Mission
The mission of the License and Inspection Division of the Planning & Development Department is to administer and enforce the building construction, property maintenance, business license, and alcohol license codes in a professional manner while providing all citizens with cost effective, high quality government services and an environment that enhances the economic well-being and quality of life in Augusta.

Primary Responsibilities
The License and Inspection Division handles:
  • Building Inspections - The Inspection of construction on new commercial and residential buildings as well as renovations and alterations on existing buildings. The inspection Division performs plan reviews on commercial, residential and signage.
  • Code Enforcement Cases - Property maintenance and housing codes, zoning violations, environmental issues, nuisances, and lot ordinance
  • Business Licenses - All types
  • Alcohol Licenses - Consumption on premises, retail packaging, and one day events
  • Customer Complaints
