During a very busy Masters Week, one of Augusta's favorite golfers took personal time to meet with members of the Fort Gordon's Warriors in Transition unit and the Charlie Norwood VA Active Duty Rehabilitation Unit. Jack and Barbara Nicklaus met the soldiers at Bush Field on Tuesday, April 8th, greeting each solder, taking photos and signing autographs. Mr. Nicklaus requested no press, for it was something he wanted to do from his heart.

The City of Augusta is starting the process to update the Augusta-Richmond County Comprehensive Plan. The current Comprehensive Plan, adopted by the Augusta Commission on February 17, 2004, must be updated and adopted by October 31, 2008.

2006 was a banner year for Augusta, and the city has prepared an annual report that describes the many accomplishments, events, projects, and ideas make Augusta a great place to live and drive the city forward.
2008 Annual Action Plan for HUD Programs Public Hearing/Meetings
The Housing and Community Development Department would like to take this opportunity to invite you to upcoming public hearing/meetings. The purpose for the pubic hearing/meetings is to 1) provide information concerning the Annual Action Plan process, CDBG, ESG, HOPWA and HOME Programs, 2) obtain information from citizens concerning their housing and community development needs in Augusta and 3) explain the process for applying for 2008 year funds.

The final version of the Olde Town Historic District Design Guidelines is now available for review and downloading. The City of Augusta contracted with Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. to prepare the design guidelines. In drafting the guidelines, the consultant worked closely with residents and property owners in Olde Town, the Olde Town Neighborhood Association, Historic Augusta, Inc., and the Augusta Historic Preservation Commission.
