Know how and where to shut off your Utilities

Locate your gas valve

Locate your water main valve

Locate your main circuit breaker to shut of electricity

Locate shut off for any other utilities

Develop an emergency plan of your residence

A drawing or floor plan of your home showing the location of exit routes, doors, utility shutoffs, first aid kit, emergency supplies, food, clothing, tools and other items necessary in an emergency. This information should be stored in a safe location and shared with babysitters or guests if you are out of the house.

Choose a meeting place

In the event of an emergency, it will be important to have a meeting place. Choose one location at your residence and a second alternative location outside your home. It may be ideal in the event of a major disaster, such as evacuation of the residence area, to plan a third location to meet at. This could include a friends or family members residence, school, park, or church.

Disaster supply kit awareness

If is important for every member of you household to know the location of items in your disaster supply kit. Please make sure they are aware of the location of all documents, contact numbers, food, supplies, and other items.

Know the location of shelters in your area
