Major Functions of the Department
The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for the preparation and distribution of Commission and Committee agendas and their associated backup material.
The City Clerk’s Office is the custodian of all official City records.
The City Clerk’s Office services 41 standing boards, commissions and authorities.
The City Clerk’s Office records and transcribes all Commission and Committee minutes.
Commission and Committee Meetings:
Formal meetings of the Augusta Richmond County Commission are held on the
first and third Tuesdays of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Commission Chamber
located on the eighth floor of the Municipal Building.
Committee meetings are held on the second and last Mondays of each month
in the Committee Room located on the eighth floor of the Municipal Building.
The Committee Meeting times are as follows:
Public Services Committee, 12:30 p.m.
Administrative Services Committee, 1:00 p.m.
Public Safety Committee, 3:30 p.m.
Finance & Appropriations Committee, 2:30 p.m.
Engineering Services Committee, 1:30 p.m.
Agendas for these meetings are prepared and made available to the public on a weekly basis.
Commission and Committee Minutes:
Minutes of all Commission and Committee meetings are available for public review. Commission minutes are recorded in both verbatim and action forms while Committee minutes are recorded only in action form. Minutes of other types of meetings of the Commission and the Committees, such as work sessions, sub-committees, etc., are also available, as well as the minutes of former County Commission and City Council meetings. Actions taken by the Commission may be located through an indexing system based on subject matter.
Document Information Center:
Various types of documents, such as contracts, agreements, resolutions, easements, deeds, ordinances, cemetery deeds, etc., are located in the Clerk’s Office. The Code of Augusta Richmond County is also maintained as an informational source.
Boards, Commissions and Authorities:
The Clerk’s Office maintains information and talent bank applications regarding the Boards, Commissions and Authorities which complement the activities of Augusta Richmond County government.
