Information - Board of Elections

The Board of Elections office was established in 1973 for the purpose of registering persons to vote and conducting elections. We were one of the first offices in county government to consolidate services between the former City of Augusta and Richmond County, combining services as early as 1947. We conduct all elections for Augusta-Richmond County, including the cities of Hephzibah and Blythe. Our main objective is to efficiently maintain the voter registration list for our county and to conduct elections in a manner that instills confidence into the public that that their ballot is properly cast and tabulated.

There are five members of the Board of Elections - two appointees from the Democratic party, two appointees from the Republican party, and the Chairperson, who is appointed by the Commission. The current members are as follows:

Chairman - Linda Beazley
Democratic appointees - L. C. Myles and (Vice Chair) Mtesa Cottemond Wright
Republican appointees - (Secretary) Bob Gardner and Timothy Moses
Executive Director - Lynn M. Bailey
